For this project, I refined the AMC Networks video player experience by introducing ad-supported playback, improving scrubbing accuracy based on user feedback, and building the foundation for a future multi-channel EPG to make live and on-demand browsing more seamless. The goal was to create a flexible, performant player that enhances the viewing experience across all AMC streaming brands.
The redesigned AMC+ mobile and tablet player delivers a consistent, engaging experience across devices. It supports live playback and introduces features like Skip Intro and End Cards that keep viewers immersed while guiding them naturally into related shows. Its updated architecture positions the platform for future EPG integration and an even more connected live experience.
The updated OTT player brings the same streamlined experience from mobile to the living room. It introduces ad-supported playback, improved scrubbing, and interactive features like Skip Intro and End Cards that make viewing more dynamic and engaging. Designed for flexibility and scale, the new player unifies the experience across platforms while paving the way for future EPG integration and live channel discovery on connected TVs.
As if designing for multiple platforms wasn’t complicated enough, the next challenge was mapping the same player interactions across every remote in the industry. From Roku to Smart TV to Tizen, each device came with its own quirks and input logic. I built detailed flow diagrams to align navigation, playback, and skip behavior so the experience feels seamless no matter what you’re holding. (Don’t worry, tvOS made the cut too, I just ran out of room on the diagram.)
